Anniversary: The CrimeScope @ 20 Years

Anniversary: The CrimeScope @ 20 Years

Posted on: May 01, 2013

It was 20 years ago on May 6, 1993 that the first unit named CrimeScope was completed and shipped.

The first CrimeScope was called the CS-5000.  It incorporated a Xenon lamp with a combination of tunable monochromator and direct high power outputs for UV and White light.  The tunable monchromator allowed for the selection of wavelengths between 400nm and 700nm in fine individual steps.  The direct output for the UV provided 300nm to 400nm and the White light was among the brightest at the time.

Only a dozen were produced as the unit quckly morphed into the familiar shape and capabilities of today, the CS-16.  Within the year the CS-16-10, a 300W Xenon based unit proudly labeled “The Ultimate Forensic Light Source”  was unveiled and produced in large quantities, that continues to this day in the current version of the CrimeScope, the CS-16-500W.

We take the name CrimeScope and “The Ultimate Forensic Light Source” seriously.  They are part of a commitment we made to our customers 20 years ago, that we would produce the most effective Forensic Light Sources possible, capable of providing results regardless of what application or evidence was in need of examination.

We would like to thank all of our customers over the years, for their trust and partnership in making the CrimeScope a success.
